On December 1, 1995, the AMI Arzneimitteluntersuchungsinstitut-Nord GmbH began its operations on Emil-Sommer-Straße in Bremen. On January 16, 2013, the company was renamed InphA GmbH, marking a strategic realignment of the institute. Until that time, the company operated solely for its shareholders; since then, it has also made its expertise available to third parties—provided that fulfilling the tasks for the shareholders is not adversely affected. Among the honored guests at the ceremony was, among others, the Senator for Health, Women, and Consumer Protection.
